OUR STORY

In a stunning location, the restaurant overlooks Hornhead and Sheephaven Bay (our holding tank for Crab and Lobster) backed by the distant hills and fields which provide the best quality fresh produce for our kitchen.

Meals are prepared by a team of chefs with over 60 years’ combined experience in treating great ingredients with respect, imagination and flair.

Diners can enjoy a fun, laid back atmosphere, looked after by attentive, capable and happy waiting staff.

Allasdar O’Riada

Made in Cork, matured in Donegal, Allasdar O’Riada has worked in the local food industry for nearly two decades.  Fostered by talented local chefs, he has built and expanded on a love for cooking that began at home.

Ballymaloe Cookery course was the book that sparked in him a culinary curiosity.  This keen interest in food and insatiable appetite for knowledge has since led him to explore many cuisines and techniques, most recently delving into the world of fermentation and slow foods. Travels to Spain and Italy have informed his palate and their attitudes towards food have left an indelible mark.

A respect for honest relationship between kitchen and customer and a belief in and high regard for his fellow staff are central tenets of his approach.

Allasdar is taking over the mantle in the Cove kitchen and with his care, attention to detail and dedication to his culinary talent, we look forward to enjoying a new and exciting restaurant experience in 2023
